Non-Surgical Skin Tightening from a Surgeon-Led Team

Morpheus8® is a fractional radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment that targets the deeper layers of the skin to encourage collagen production, tighten tissue, and refine texture. Unlike ablative resurfacing lasers, Morpheus8® delivers energy beneath the surface, leaving the outermost layer of skin largely intact for shorter downtime.

At The Surgeon’s Spa – Beachwood and The Surgeon’s Spa – Westlake, Morpheus8® is part of a full spectrum of skin rejuvenation options. The device’s depth and energy settings can be customized to your skin type and treatment area, allowing our providers to be more conservative or more aggressive as needed.

Commonly treated areas include:

  • Face and neck
  • Upper arms
  • Thighs
  • Areas affected by mild laxity or texture changes

Morpheus8® can also be combined with other treatments such as cellulite procedures, CoolSculpting, or facial surgery for more comprehensive rejuvenation.

How Does Morpheus8® Work?

Morpheus8® combines two technologies:

  • Microneedling: Tiny needles create controlled microchannels in the skin.
  • Radiofrequency energy: Heat is delivered through these needles into the deeper dermis and subdermal layers.

This dual action triggers a healing response that can:

  • Improve skin firmness and elasticity
  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Smooth certain types of acne scars
  • Enhance overall texture and tone

Because the energy is focused beneath the skin’s surface, Morpheus8® is considered non-ablative, and recovery is typically shorter than with full-field resurfacing lasers.

What to Expect During Morpheus8® Treatment

Before treatment, you’ll meet with a provider at The Surgeon’s Spa to:

  • Review your skin history and prior treatments.
  • Identify specific concerns such as laxity, wrinkles, or scars.
  • Decide whether Morpheus8®, laser resurfacing, Sofwave, or another option—or a combination—is best for you.

On the day of your Morpheus8® procedure:

  • A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area, usually for about 30 minutes, to increase comfort.
  • The Morpheus8® handpiece is placed against the skin, and the needles briefly enter the tissue while RF energy is delivered.
  • You may feel warmth and pressure; the intensity can vary depending on the depth and settings needed for your skin.
  • A typical session lasts 30–60 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas treated.

Afterward, you may notice:

  • Redness and mild swelling
  • A sensation similar to a sunburn
  • Tiny pinpoint marks from the needles that fade as the skin heals

Most patients feel comfortable returning to regular activities the next day, though we recommend sun protection and gentle skincare as you recover.

Morpheus8® FAQs

Morpheus8® can be used on a wide range of skin types, including many darker skin tones, when appropriate settings and precautions are used.

Face, jawline, neck, upper arms, abdomen, thighs, and other areas of mild laxity or texture change may respond well. Your provider will help prioritize where treatment is likely to be most beneficial.

Many patients undergo a series of 2–3 treatments spaced several weeks apart for optimal improvement. Maintenance sessions can be considered over time.

Initial improvements in texture may be seen within weeks, with more significant tightening and collagen remodeling often developing over several months.

Temporary redness, swelling, and mild discomfort are common. As with any procedure that penetrates the skin, there are rare risks such as pigment changes or scarring, which your provider will discuss.
