MiraDry™ is a non-invasive treatment designed to significantly reduce underarm sweating and odor by targeting the sweat and odor glands in the axilla (underarm area). It uses controlled microwave energy to heat and disable these glands while a cooling system protects the skin.
Because the treated sweat glands do not regenerate, MiraDry™ can provide a long-lasting solution for many patients who struggle with excessive underarm sweating—whether formally diagnosed with axillary hyperhidrosis or simply bothered by persistent moisture and odor.
At The Surgeon’s Spa – Beachwood and The Surgeon’s Spa – Westlake, MiraDry™ is performed in a comfortable office setting with local anesthesia.
Your first step is a consultation with an experienced provider at The Surgeon’s Spa. During that visit, we will:
On treatment day:
The session is typically completed within an hour or so. Because of the local anesthetic, patients often feel pressure and vibration but not significant pain during treatment.
Afterward, you can expect swelling, firmness, or tenderness in the underarms for several days. Applying cool packs and following post-procedure instructions helps reduce discomfort. Most patients notice a meaningful reduction in sweat and odor as healing progresses over the following weeks to months.
The sweat glands targeted by MiraDry™ are considered permanently disabled. While no treatment can guarantee 100% elimination of sweat, most patients enjoy a long-term, substantial reduction in sweat and odor production.
Many patients achieve excellent results with a single session. In some cases, a second treatment may be recommended to further improve control.
Yes. MiraDry™ is FDA-cleared for treating axillary hyperhidrosis and has been used safely in many patients worldwide.
Temporary swelling, tenderness, firmness, or numbness are common. Rarely, more prolonged or bothersome side effects can occur; your provider will review these with you during consultation.
MiraDry™ is specifically designed and cleared for the underarm area. Other options, such as Botox injections, may be used off-label for sweating in different regions. Our team can help you explore the options that make the most sense for your situation.
Botox can be injected to temporarily reduce underarm sweating and is sometimes used as an alternative or adjunct to MiraDry™. During your consultation, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of Botox versus a device-based treatment like MiraDry™.
If underarm sweating affects your clothing choices, confidence, or lifestyle, MiraDry™ may offer a meaningful and lasting improvement. Our team will help you understand all your options, including topical, injectable, and device-based therapies.
